Managerial Report for Industrial Distribution

In 1997, Industrial Distribution conducted a survey that showed that 27% of the people worked for companies with sales of over 40 million dollars, at the same time the professional ID personnel worked for a 12 million dollar firm. It has been concluded that the people that worked for medium sized companies ($6-$20 million) earn more money than people who work in larger firms. For example, studies conducted in 1996 revealed that a typical outside person made $50,000 whereas the inside ID personnel made $30,000. The question here is whether or not ID professionals should be compensated for their salary discrepancies. ID professionals conducted a survey in San Francisco to address this issue. The research, with a sample size of 120 observations, surveyed its members in order to analyze the relationship between years of experience and salary for those working inside and outside sales positions. Levels of experience were classified into three sections: low (1-10 years); medium (11-20 years); and high (21 or more years). Based on the research, we will provide descriptive statistics to summarize the data that has been collected, identify specific confidence intervals, and finally, conduct t-tests and ANOVA tests in order to compare means following specifications dictated in the class text and syllabus.
